Start of A New Semester

New semester at Iowa State...which of course brings around new, fun projects. :/
First one of the semester is the 'Point Line Plane' project-which requires students to study a building on campus, explore the proportions of the building, its history, and what makes it special.

I chose Morrill Hall, one of the older buildings on campus. It has a rich history and has been 'reborn' several times. Over its course, it has been a chapel, contained a barbershop, served as classrooms, was a library, housed animals for the zoology department, and has been a museum.
For my posters, I focused on the building's ability to undergo reincarnation, and used a quote by Jack London to strengthen the concept.

276 Project 3 - Editorial Design

With this project we were given a magazine topic (gardening), a demographic (women 45+), photos, and a story to design a cover, table of contents, and three spreads for.

271 Project 1 - Editorial Design

For this project, we were given two articles "Portfolio Commandments" and "The Ups and Downs of Going Green" and were told to create three spreads for a magazine. We had to use a 2/4, 3/6, and an experimental grid of our choosing.

276 Project 1 - Narrative Poster

For this project, we were to write a self-analysis on our design styles and create two posters based off of our writing. For me, ever since I was a kid I enjoyed reading comic books and feel as if reading them pushed me to embrace the layouts, colors, and typography that were used. I used these ideas in my poster to illustrate that these qualities have become fused with me in a way, much like superheroes are fused with their superpowers.

276 Project 2 - Packaging

For this project, we were to design an ice cream label for a chosen demographic. I decided to market my ice cream for women older than 60. The color palette, the logo, and the photography were all designed with my demographic in mind.

Photos on containers are on their way!
